Join University of Rochester alumni, parents, and friends for an afternoon of entertainment with Black Girls’ Anthem. This dynamic choreopoem weaves multiple art forms together leaving the audience with an unforgettable experience you don’t want to miss!

The University welcomes you to a special pre-show reception with author, producer, and performer, Melany J. Silas ‘99, ‘01W (MS), and director, Kate Washington ‘04S (MBA).

Rochester native Melany J. Silas is a tenured assistant professor at Monroe Community College in the health and physical education department. She has been recognized by a variety of magazines and newspapers and was selected as the 2012 Woman of the Year by the Black Heritage Commission of Rochester. 

Kate Washington serves as chief executive officer of Enterprise Solutions International, LLC. She is also a musician and the former director of the Enterprise Zone in Geva Theatre's Next Stage in Rochester. Recently, she was honored with the Visionary Award from the Simon School Alumni Council. 

Admission is $25 and includes a VIP performance ticket, performance CD, and reception. Advance registration is required. Tickets and CDs will be distributed at the reception.
